Task 1: Proposal

Task 1: Proposal

In the Design Exploration module, we were given the freedom to create a project of our own choice, allowing us to either delve into a specialization outside our current field (e.g., a UX design student exploring 3D character sculpting) or to deepen our focus within our chosen area. This project offers a chance to explore new design territories without strict limitations, encouraging creative exploration.

To kick off the project, we started with a mind-mapping exercise to reflect on our aspirations, current skills, and areas of interest. This helped us brainstorm a range of project ideas that could fit within the module’s objectives. After mapping out my thoughts, I identified three potential project directions, ultimately deciding to pursue 3D sculpting as my chosen exploration focus. The ideas I considered are outlined below.

After discussing these ideas with my lecturer, I eventually decided to work, I decided to work on 3D sculpting as that has been one of my interest to learn about since a long time ago, so I thought this will be a great opportunity to do it.

After that I started to do a lot of research in how to create 3D sculptures and learning the tools so that I can have a better idea on how to 3D sculpt.

Feedback

Week 1:
N/A (Briefing week)

Week 2:
When selecting the idea to pursue, it's important to consider which option will be the most valuable addition to your portfolio, particularly in terms of job and internship opportunities. Out of the ideas outlined, the most beneficial choice is the 3D sculpting project, as it enhances your portfolio with a focus on character creation. However, if 3D sculpting overlaps with work you’re already doing in another module, you could proceed with an alternative idea. Just be sure to clarify in your proposal how that choice would still be relevant and useful for your career goals.

Week 3:
The proposal is fine so far. You can proceed with the next step.

Week 4:
You can try to use pre made body models as long as you edit and change it to match your own character's body shape.

Week 5:
