Project 1: Technical and Motion Graphics Sensibilities
Project 1 involves utilizing basic shapes to craft simple motion graphics, guided by eight design principles:
- Movement
- Hierarchy
- Balance
- Direction
- Symmetry
- Focus
- Scale
- Rhythm
We only need to animate the principles of symmetry, focus, scale, and rhythm. An After Effects template has been provided, and we will explore motion graphics techniques through YouTube tutorials. Once we have completed all 8 motion graphics, we will composite them into a 16-second video.
Sample Work
This sample, provided by Mr. Fauzi, shows the use of squares/rectangles, circles, and triangles.

Symmetry
First of all, I explored some motion graphics example and decided to make a flower made by circle shapes. After making one flower I duplicated it and mirror the two flowers with each other to make it look like reflections to create a more symmetry animation.

Focus
For the focus animation, I began with a single rectangle line. Using the repeater effect in After Effects, I transformed this single line into a circular pattern. The repeater effect allowed me to duplicate the rectangle line multiple times, creating a symmetrical arrangement that radiates from a central point. This circular formation resembles simple fireworks, drawing the viewer's attention to the center of the composition and effectively illustrating the design principle of focus.

Scale
For the scale technique, I started with three identical square shapes. I bent these shapes to resemble three lines. Then, I scaled them up and rotated them back to their original square forms. Making it look like a minimalist vibe logo.

Rhythm
Moving on, the scale technique, I start by creating the main raindrop using a circle and the repeater effect to simulate multiple droplets, adding a trailing line to represent motion, and then animating their fall using position keyframes with easy ease for smooth movement. By combining these elements into a pre-comp and duplicating it with offset timings, it have a natural-looking rain effect.

Final Submission - Part 1: pre-composition
Final submission - Part 1
Execution - Part 2: composition remix
For the part 2, I look for a background music that sounds energetic and matches well with the vibe I was going for. Then I play around with the compositions I have and time it together well in after effects to make them seamless and smooth when playing.
Final Submission - Part 2
