Process

For this assignment, I am tasked to look for five secondary sources to read and review them critically. The journal articles I choose must be relevant to the topic I've chosen and up to date, meaning they were published within the last five years. This requirement added a bit of challenge to the task as it was hard for me to find suitable articles that fit the required timeframe while remaining relevant to my topic. Nonetheless, I am determined to find the best sources to enhance the quality of my research.

I encountered multiple findings that seemed suitable at first but turned out to be lengthy novels with hundreds of pages. Following the advice given by the lecturer, I decided to utilize tools like Mendeley and Google Scholar to take notes and search for more suitable articles. These resources proved to be valuable in narrowing down my search and finding relevant articles for my research.

Upon showing my progress to the lecturer, I was suggested to use Mendeley to help me with my readings and note taking as the application allows me to highlight and comment on the important parts of the articles.

Reflection

Writing critical reviews on articles posed a challenging task for me. One of the main struggles I faced was maintaining objectivity while providing constructive criticism. It was essential to evaluate the articles objectively, focusing on aspects like research quality, methodology, clarity of arguments, and overall contribution to the field.

Initially, I was not familiar with the process and confused about what to do. I thought it was merely summarizing the articles and sharing my opinions, but I soon realized that it required a more in-depth analysis. After looking at examples and classmates' work, I gained a better understanding of the task and started working on it. However, the initial confusion led to a loss of time, making time management a struggle while writing critical reviews.

Despite the challenges, the experience allowed me to develop valuable skills in critically analyzing and reviewing research articles, enhancing my research abilities and contributing to my growth as a researcher.
