Lectures

Week 1: On week 1, it was a public holiday so we did not have class.

Week 2: On week 2,  Mr. Hafiz briefed on us on the module, Illustration & Visual Narrative. We were given links to the Google classroom. We learnt about lesson that we missed on week 1 and we also learn about pen tools and how it works.

Week 3: On this week, Mr Hafiz demonstrated how pathfinder work on Illustrator. We tried out some tools such as Unite, Minus Front, Intersect, Exclude and Divide. We also used blending modes such as multiply, darken and colour burn.

Task 1: Vormator Challenge

Inspiration

• I wanted to design a character that is cat related and that is when I saw a photo of toothless the dragon from DreamWorks. The character is also inspired by cat and in the movie the character behave similarly like a cat. So I wanted to do the same thing with similar concept, that's why instead of a dragon acting like a cat, I wanted to make a cat acting like a dragon with dragon features.

Sketch idea

This is the sketch that I did after following the drawings that I did and try to build it using the shapes given.

Design

This is what the character looks like after I build it using the shapes.

After that I did a few more changes and managed to make the cat look better.

After that I used the cobra and tentacle shapes to make a wing for the dragon cat.

Final Design

This is the final character design I came out with. Since I wanted the cat to be black, the final result made it look a bit plain so I added some shadings for it to make it look better.
